The AWPA has now become the EWPAA
The AWPA has merged with the former Plywood Association of Australia to form a new stronger body to promote the use of wood panels in Australia. The new body, known as the Engineered Wood Products Association of Australasia represents plywood, LVL, particleboard and MDF.
The EWPAA is an incorporated association which exists to benefit its members by providing technical, promotion and other services which need to be conducted on an industry wide basis. The membership of the EWPAA is comprised of plywood, particleboard and fibreboard manufacturers in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.
Some of the functions of the EWPAA are:
- To provide product certification services
- To offer technical advice to users of the member’s products
- To promote the member’s products to end-users
- To assist in development of standards and codes for member’s products
Some of the publications and schemes of the AWPA will still retain the AWPA name, even though they will be administered by the EWPAA. The AWPA Test Centre Association Inc. (ATCA) laboratory is still located on the Gold Coast and is able to perform some testing for non-members – refer to the separate ATCA website www.atca.asn.au
